I am currently supporting a leading independent defence technology solutions company who are based in Welshpool, in recruiting a talented Embedded C/C++ Linux Software Engineer to join their software team, as a result of some brand new projects that are about to kick-off.
You'll be heavily involved in and will play an integral part in product development and customer projects.
These include the on-going software change and test of a networked system of bespoke devices for the Defence Sector using Embedded Linux; Development of embedded software for next generation hardware components required for cross platform security by the Defence Sector; Development of the company's next generation of Vehicle Health and Usage Monitoring device firmware and support software; Development of systems to support embedded products primarily using desktop applications.
The company continually undertake new projects and develop new products. This often involves the leveraging of new technologies and mean that you must be able to identify the technologies best suited for a particular solution; Apply your core engineering and software skills to the understanding of the technology such that you can implement the solution, as well as design and develop cross-platform solutions such that alternative and future technologies can be leveraged with the minimum of redevelopment.
-Design and develop OO solutions for implementation in C++ on embedded Linux.
-Design and develop non-OO solutions for implementation in C on embedded Linux.
-Understand Unix/Linux IPC concepts and use under Ubuntu from versions 14.04 to latest.
-Able to configure and manage a Debian based embedded Linux Operating System.
-Be fluent in C/C++ with gcc/g++ and have familiarity with cross-compilation and Make.
-Implementing software for TCP/IP socket communications.
-Good Software Configuration Management and Issue Management knowledge
-UML (ideally SysML with Enterprise Architect).
-Cryptography: Key management and Windows bCrypt/nCrypt libraries or OpenSSL under Linux.
-XML and ASN.1.
-VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language).
-DDS for real-time systems (ideally RTI).
-Software test and Coding Standard compliance
-Knowledge of Video and VOIP over Ethernet.
