DRIVE PERFORMANCE WITHIN A WORLD-CLASS DIGITAL GOVERNMENT

Why us, why now?

This is an unprecedented time for digital, data and technology in the UK government. Countries like the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are modelling their digital transformation on ours. Why? Because we're putting user needs at the heart of digital development to make government work better for everyone. We're 17,000 colleagues across government, and we're scaling up nationwide. Our new cloud model is giving us unparalleled agility and bravery to ensure government is equipped and inspired to deliver real, meaningful change. The potential to shape our society's future is enormous - and we want you to be part of it.

About the role

As our Senior Business Analyst, you'll be a trusted advisor within our organisation. We'll look to you to provide independent and unbiased critical analysis, ensuring outcomes and deliverables that align with our business strategy, service vision and business architecture. You'll be accountable for the quality, coverage and management of requirements across both major change programmes and smaller projects. This will involve identifying, quantifying, planning and controlling business analysis activity. You'll influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders within BEIS and across government. What's more, you'll be heavily involved in developing and embedding a high performing Business Analysis function within BEIS. With this, you'll develop and create the structures and processes that embed new ways of working.

What we're looking for

You're able to investigate, analyse, articulate and solve complex problems and concepts. Crucially, you ensure a solution that both aligns with the needs of the business and of users. You're able to translate user stories and propose design approaches, and you successfully manage relationships, communicating clearly and regularly, through consultation. You employ business modelling and a business improvement process to identify and explore change. Of course, you also understand agile methodology and you know how to apply this mindset. Unafraid to take risks or learn from mistakes, you appreciate the importance of agile project delivery for digital projects within government.

Help shape a truly digital government

If you're excited by an ever-evolving technological landscape and a fast-moving digital change agenda, this is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills to do what matters. Here, you'll be helping us respond to the changing needs and expectations of millions of people, delivering services that are simpler, faster and easier to use. And in return, you'll enjoy the fantastic range of benefits the Civil Service has to offer.
