About the role

Being our Junior Developer is about being there for the team. You'll help with planning, reviewing and retrospectives, fixing bugs and addressing functionality issues as they arise. Working alongside colleagues across BEIS, you'll deliver user stories and produce time estimates. All the while, you'll build rapport with the internal and external Digital community, developing a sound understanding of their needs. As well as supporting our Digital processes, you'll also tackle the technical challenges they bring. You'll put accessibility and assisted digital users' needs at the forefront of our mind, and in every aspect of development. In addition, you'll help out with administration and operational support at community meetings, as well as organising events and maintaining information or data.

What we're looking for

You're proactive and you plan ahead, working effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines. As well as being a self-starter, you're willing to learn and not afraid to fail. You're also great at identifying key issues and ensuring they get the attention they deserve, at the earliest opportunity. Quick to make effective decisions, you prioritise what's important. You're familiar with technical languages, particularly SharePoint, Azure, AWS, C#, Typescript and SQL. What's more, you know about GOV.UK and the Government Digital Service, and the service standard. And you're a team player, ready to pick up varied tasks to make sure we deliver.
