HELP SHAPE A WORLD-CLASS DIGITAL FUTURE FOR ALL
Why us, why now?
This is an unprecedented time for digital, data and technology in the UK government. Countries like the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are modelling their digital transformation on ours. Why? Because we're putting user needs at the heart of digital development to make government work better for everyone. We're 17,000 colleagues across government, and we're scaling up nationwide. Our new cloud model is giving us unparalleled agility and bravery to ensure government is equipped and inspired to deliver real, meaningful change. The potential to shape our society's future is enormous - and we want you to be part of it.
About the role
As our Infrastructure Lead, you will develop the strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps for our technologies and services. By ensuring they're future-proofed, you'll help us derive maximum value from our investment. We'll expect you to own relationships with suppliers, ensuring services and products are not only delivered, but aligned to industry best practice, regulatory and contractual requirements. Working with technical architects, you'll translate architectural designs into operations, and you'll direct infrastructure teams to create and maintain solutions. Providing incident reporting and continuous improvement, you'll achieve a 100% uptime SLA. You'll upgrade systems, overseeing development, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.
What we're looking for
You bring a broad architectural knowledge of all components of infrastructure systems, middleware and multiple backend database technologies. Your administration experience on enterprise technologies includes everything from Active Directory and Group Policy Management, to virus and malware protection solutions. As well as an in-depth knowledge of DNS, DHCP, WINS, TCP/IP, and SMTP, you have a solid understanding of virtualization technologies and best practices. You're experienced in operations, with detailed knowledge of AWS and Azure. Crucially, you demonstrate initiative and you can work independently to identify issues and solve them. You're also comfortable interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners, thanks to your confident, clear and concise communication style. What's more, you can manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritising what's important.
Help shape a truly digital government
If you're excited by an ever-evolving technological landscape and a fast-moving digital change agenda, this is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills to do what matters. Here, you'll be helping us respond to the changing needs and expectations of millions of people, delivering services that are simpler, faster and easier to use. And in return, you'll enjoy the fantastic range of benefits the Civil Service has to offer.
