APPLY YOUR INTELLIGENCE TO A WORLD-LEADING DIGITAL GOVERNMENT
Why us, why now?
This is an unprecedented time for digital, data and technology in the UK government. Countries like the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are modelling their digital transformation on ours. Why? Because we're putting user needs at the heart of digital development to make government work better for everyone. We're 17,000 colleagues across government, and we're scaling up nationwide. Our new cloud model is giving us unparalleled agility and bravery to ensure government is equipped and inspired to deliver real, meaningful change. The potential to shape our society's future is enormous - and we want you to be part of it.
About the role
As our Senior Business Intelligence Lead, it will be your job to keep us one step ahead of user needs. From conceptualising, designing and developing data driven reports for visualisations and dashboards, to championing analytics - you will lead on creating a best in class capability. You'll develop and manage a PowerBI service, scoping enterprise dashboards, defining and setting reporting standards across the business. You'll ensure outputs are robust and effective, and the methods we use withstand audit scrutiny. We'll ask you to liaise and consult with stakeholders across BEIS and wider government, and find improved ways of working. To develop and share knowledge, and upskill the team, you'll stay informed of the leading innovations in data analytics.
What we're looking for
You're proactive and you plan ahead. You're also great at identifying key issues and ensuring they get the attention they deserve, at the earliest opportunity. You're familiar with a range of business intelligence tools (Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI and more). In particular, you bring experience of AWS (EC2 + S3), Microsoft stack, SharePoint and Azure. Not only are you a self-starter, but you're willing to learn and not afraid to fail. You understand data cleansing, and you know about GOV.UK and the Government Digital Service, and the service standard. You're a team player, ready to pick up varied tasks to make sure we deliver.
Help shape a truly digital government
If you're excited by an ever-evolving technological landscape and a fast-moving digital change agenda, this is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills to do what matters. Here, you'll be helping us respond to the changing needs and expectations of millions of people, delivering services that are simpler, faster and easier to use. And in return, you'll enjoy the fantastic range of benefits the Civil Service has to offer.
