We have an exciting opportunity with one of our high profile government clients based in Coventry, West Midlands. You will be part of a new dynamic digital team who are wholly focussed on developing digital services for customers and front line staff.

We are looking for lead software developers who can work across a range of projects with focus on developing the team in which you work in, ensuring they have enough support and resources. You will ensure you deliver high quality code in line with project goals and delivery cycles. Above all, you will want to make government better, which may sometimes involve challenging the status quo. Working in a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of digital projects, you will use agile methodologies like pair programming and Test Driven Development (TDD).

Role Responsibilities:

· Lead a team of outstanding software developers to help build and run great digital services.

· Be responsible for establishing the code libraries, performing, code reviews, and ensuring all developers on the team conform to good software practice and take ownership for the quality of code produced by the team. This will mean working across multiple scrum teams to ensure that practices align.

· Lead on frontend and backend web development and implement APIs for internal and external use. This will require working with technical architects, test managers and DevOps colleagues to ensure the smooth transition from development to live.

· Lead in the delivery of data development projects essential to realising the customer experience of the service, driving payments and driving continuous service improvement. You will guide the ways in which the team works and improving software development practices within the team and integrating data management products into wider departments platforms.

· Take a leading role in the software development can including being involved in the wider web development community identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences.

· Work with test and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues throughout the life cycle.

· Provide technical leadership within the team, advising and working with the Technical Architect and developers to identify the best solutions, driving quality and adherence to the specification.

Experience required:

· Expert coding skills in any of C#, SQL, Oracle Policy Automation (OPA) and/or Achieve Forms and/or other software coding practices such as .NET/Java/JavaScript and/or CRM Dynamics

· Experience of managing a development team ensuring all developers on the team conform to good software practice and are producing high quality well tested software

· Experience of mentoring teams in order to grow their technical skills and create development opportunities

· An ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

· Ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques.

· Experience of Agile development, software patterns, continuous integrating, test driven and version control.

· Experience of advising on the right way to apply standards and methods, ensuring compliance, and maintaining technical responsibility for all the stages and iterations of a software development project. Providing technical advice to stakeholders and setting the team-based standards for programming tools and techniques.

· Ability to coordinate build activities across systems and understands how to undertake and support integration testing activities.

· Experience of implementation toolkits and APIs for purposes such as integration, performance optimisation, security and scalability.
