A senior member of Network Engineering Infrastructure team responsible for the design, deployment, and support of a global service provider IP network.

Primary responsibilities include engineering, deployment, and support of TNS IP backbone network with emphasis on delivery of Ethernet based services as defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum, routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, EIGRP, OSPF, PIM), WAN/LAN topologies, MPLS, and supporting hardware. The position will require interaction with internal teams (Operations, Planning, and Business Units) for requirements gathering and deployment coordination.

The position will also work with external vendors for solution evaluation and customization. The individual will provide third-level Operations support for trouble resolution and critical maintenance windows.

They will participate in developing network and service architectures, define design standards and maintain network diagrams and technical design documents. This position will require occasional off-hours support. Minimal travel will be required.

Qualifications

- B.S. (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with five years of engineering experience in data communications

- Strong knowledge of ISP design and operation

- Expert in TCP/IP and routing protocols (RSVP, LDP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, PIM, BFD, and Fast Reroute technologies)

- Experience with architecture and provisioning of MPLS networks and services including Traffic Engineering, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS L3VPN & L2VPNs, VPLS, Circuit Emulation, IPSec VPNs, IP Multicast, QOS/COS

- Expert in layer-2 Ethernet technologies

- Extensive hands-on experience with the configuration of Cisco (and or) Juniper routers and switches

- Expert in current industry WAN technologies and products (SONET, SDH, TDM, Metro Ethernet)

- Familiarity with IPSEC and VPN technologies

- Familiarity with IEEE, ITU standards and IETF RFCs

- Familiarity with Data Center design and operation

- Expert-level troubleshooting and debugging skills

- Experience in vendor product evaluation (hardware, software, service provider)

- Ability to operate a Protocol Analyzer, Cable Tester, and Circuit Tester

- Experience with command-line interfaces, graphical user interfaces, SNMP agents, statistical monitoring and analysis

- Strong written and verbal communications skills required.

- Ability to develop and document detailed lab test plans and reports, document procedures and new configurations, provide training for operations departments and other engineers, provide written troubleshooting, debugging, and problem detail to vendors

- Ability to work with Product and Sales organizations during the Product design phase to ensure that applications meet network requirements

- Ability to design, plan, and coordinate network maintenance and installation windows

- Ability to work some weekends and to be on-call
