Job title: Temporary Accommodation Officer

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £12.50 - £13.00 per hour

3 months - possible extention

Role profile

You will:

o Work with Housing colleagues to deliver outstanding performance, high customer satisfaction and value for money.

o Work as part of the Housing Access Team to deliver outstanding housing and support services, and contribute to the delivery of the strategic objectives.

o Build excellent internal and external working relationships to enhance service delivery.

o Support the Housing Access Manager and team leaders to deliver the objectives.

Purpose of job

1. To manage the provision of temporary accommodation ensuring appropriate allocations as well as the procurement of private sector accommodation for the provision of assured short hold tenancies either as a prevention of homelessness or a discharge of duty.

2. The Temporary Accommodation Officers are responsible for the placement of homeless clients into interim accommodation and the nomination of homeless clients into S193 temporary accommodation

3. To provide advice and guidance to customers on a range of housing solutions.

4. To work with all Registered Social Landlords to ensure that people move out of temporary accommodation in a timely manner.

5. To deliver an efficient and comprehensive temporary accommodation service ensuring homes are let within agreed targets and in line with the relevant temporary accommodation policy/procedure.

6. Assess and complete applications for housing in line with the allocations policy and work with practitioners to maximize housing solutions

7. To provide advice and guidance to customers on a range of housing solutions, including sharing information about the housing register and opportunities of downsizing, transferring and maximizing opportunity to mutual exchange.

8. To ensure the Council complies with the appropriate legislation and all related statutory guidance.

9. To contribute to the development of the team plan and service plan and to work within the current policies and procedures in relation to Housing Access service.

Technical knowledge and Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grade A-C including English (or equivalent level of educational attainment)

Chartered Institute of Housing Professional Qualification or equivalent

Able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant housing legislation

Able to demonstrate an awareness of IT systems and able to use Word and Excel
