Financial Accountant (IFRS Statutory Accounts) - Coventry - Maternity Cover Our client in the utilities industry requires a fully qualified Financial Accountant with IFRS Statutory Accounts experience. This role is based in Coventry on an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of an extension. As part of your role, you will produce statutory accounts for legal entities and ensure technical accuracy in accordance with the client's accounting practices and International Financial Reporting Standards.

You will also liaise with the client's internal Tax team to ensure that financial statements comply with the relevant UK tax requirements.

Responsibilities

You will:Lead different day to day elements of accounting for certain UK businesses.Liaise with the businesses in the UK and shared service centre in RomaniaEnsure the timeliness and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the businesses which have been prepared in Romania.Maintain a good working relationship to ensure that there is a strong and full knowledge of the businesses with a view to converting this into the consequent impact on financial systems.Prepare supplemental information required on a quarterly basis for the Centre of Competence in Germany.Ensure that information provided by the businesses is validated and challenged before being processed by the shared service centre in Romania.Produce statutory accounts including disclosures for various legal entities with support from the relevant technical area.Ensure that the financial statements are technically correct and in accordance with the client's accounting manual and International Financial Reporting Standards and completion of national statistics forms.Support the implementation of process improvements, to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.Ensure that the accounting ledgers comply with UK tax requirements (Corporation tax, VAT, PAYE etc).Provide technical accounting advice.Be a key user for modules within Globe (e.g. Accounts Payable, Receivables etc)Liaise with Internal and External Auditors to fully support audits.

Skills:You should be a fully qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with practical post qualification experience.You should have good technical accounting skills with commercial awareness.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationshipsExtensive knowledge of SAP Accounting systems and processesExcellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret dataAbility to work to tight timescalesA desire for continuous improvement
