CONSTRUCTIVE DESIGNER

4 days per week - Monday to Thursday

Are you a Constructive Designer who is interested to support and contribute the growth of an exciting project for our defence marine customer?

At the heart of this is their 320-acre Rosyth site, which is home to one of the largest waterside manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. From here, they offer a world class engineering capacity and capability rarely available in one location.

MAIN PURPOSE You will hold a good understanding of naval engineering and defence related design practice's relevant to the structural/constructive discipline within the marine environment. Additionally, the candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent 2D CAD skills and represent good written and verbal communications.Structural Designers are responsible for the creation of drawings and other design deliverables to the specified standards.You will be required to contribute and support the whole project and product design lifecycle including design development, installation, technical support and disposal.

KEY RESULT AREAS Preparation/production of CAD 2D/3D drawings and supporting documentation, primarily in support of alternation and additions for HM Naval ships.All design cycle phases potentially but primarily, detail and production designs in line with recognised ISO and defence standards and adherence to time, cost and quality requirements.Knowledge of constructive manufacturing processes applicable to naval ships.Knowledge of constructive installation processes applicable to naval ships.Ability to develop and maintain close technical relationships with other engineering disciplines.Good customer engagement skills.Creation of associated bill of materials.Awareness of Shock policy and impact on design alternation applicable to naval warships.Liaise with profession engineering colleagues and various stakeholders during design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of design, including contribution to design reviews.Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting the resolution of technical and production queries.Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.Be aware of and ensure that; safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented.Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of outputs.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS You will be required to hold ONC/HNC or an equivalent engineering academic qualification in Electrical discipline subject.Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience.Utilise Autodesk AutoCAD 2D/3D & MS Office software.
