Deputy Head of Projects - Central London - Permanent - £54k - £63k Per Annum

The Company

An prestigious education institution based in Central London, requires an experienced Deputy Head of Projects to lead an exsisting team within the PM/PMO function.

The Role

This position is to act as an empowered deputy to the Head of Projects (IT E&F), provide industry experience based mentoring to the IT E&F team and deliver strategic projects as required, to deliver to the needs of the organisation, within set budget, timescales and quality.

Responsibilities

*Mentor Programme Managers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators of all levels in areas of expertise as outlined above

*Deputise for the Head of Projects (IT E&F) as needed, due to capacity or leave.

*Lead in the delivery of IT Projects in line with the Operating Model using Microsoft Project online

*Define, document and successfully deliver IT projects across the business

*Ensure that realistic project, quality, change control and risk management processes are maintained

*Monitor and control resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget

*Plan, identify, and secure resources to support a successful outcome of work packages or the entire project

*Lead and prepare detailed planning and budgetary reports for a range of audiences, to assist in the approval and management of projects as well as briefings and other related project governance communications

*Project manage the full life cycle of IT procurement activities up to and including OJEU. This involves tender development, evaluation, shortlisting, supplier selection and contract negotiation.

*Matrix and line manage staff, contractors and vendors, where appropriate, to ensure on time, on budget and agreed quality outcomes to projects and initiatives

Experience Required

*Education to degree standard and/or equivalent qualifications/experience

*PRINCE2 or equivalent qualifications/experience

*ITIL Foundation qualifications

*Significant experience of managing projects and/or experience of supporting project managers, ideally in construction/fit-out environments

*Good working knowledge of structured cabling, networking, AV and telephony/unified communications

*Working knowledge of end user and data storage technologies

*Familiarity with the IT technology underpinning CCTV, BMS and similar

*Excellent project planning and dependency management skills

*Excellent leadership skills and the ability to influence motivate and inspire others

*Excellent knowledge of contract lifecycles, vendor management and procurement

*Excellent management skills, with particular emphasis on interpersonal and negotiating skills and the ability to delegate and motivate staff

*Significant experience of working with third parties to deliver IT Solutions
