Senior Java Developer / Architect (OOP Java 8 DevOps microservices). Would you like to utilise your software development skills working on "Tech for Good" software in a senior, hands-on position whilst enjoying flexible working hours and casual dress code?

As a Senior Java Developer / Architect you will take ownership of software design across new products; you'll make the technical decisions about which technologies / languages to use, ensuring the best tool for the job. You will partner with BAs to create a complete set of requirements, ensuing that they are understood and achievable by the in-house development team or third party suppliers as well as collaborating with software development teams and DevOps to ensure that developed and deployed software meets architectural standards and is consistent.

The company works with stakeholders across the energy sector (consumers, industry, academia and government) to identify innovation priorities, gaps in the market and overcome barriers to accelerating the decarbonisation of the energy system at the lowest cost.

You'll be joining a friendly, relaxed team based in Central Birmingham (10 minute walk from 3 mainline stations) with excellent views of the City.

Requirements:

*Broad software design / architecture experience with a deep understanding of software code design, architectural design patterns and the use of UML

*Strong technical background, any OO language considered with Java preferred (Java 8 and above)

*Good knowledge of microservices and event driven architectures

*Experience with Docker and Container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes

*Experience of working with SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB, Neo4J, Cassandra ideally)

*Advocate and evangelist of Agile best practice

*Excellent communication skills
