My key client in Staffordshire is recruiting for a component engineer join the team for an initial 3 month contract. Main duties and responsibilities will include - * Managing the company's internal component database, including maintenance and improvements* Use of Microsoft Access Database to analyse the data* Supplying approved component information to sourcing and R&D, managing access and ensuring accuracy on data input from other engineers* Supporting the transfer of the database to PLM Imagine* Supporting the REACH, RoHS and conflict minerals programs * Must have experience with a REACH/RoHS compliance analytical program such as PTC Windchill Product Analytic* Expert use of IHS database and supplying End of Life (EOL) studies on current production on a quarterly basis from this tool* Supplying new component numbers and reports when requested to R&D, POST and other departments* Checking on the availability of other sources and acquiring samples when needed* Liaising with engineers when specific components need to be tested* Component failure and trend analysis for components failing in the field and in manufacturing* Action and manage change information, including acquiring external department approvals* Supporting other team members of POST and R&D with component information including Fault analysis* Supporting 8D 'red-alert' production issue meetings on component related issues* Completing or managing (where necessary) PCB datapack updates as directed by design/post design engineering* Managing and completing actions assigned from the Engineering assistance request management tool Electronic Component Engineer requirements - * Degree level qualification required* A knowledge of GE Grid Solutions and other internal functions is essential* Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a multi-disciplinary team* Strong communication skills and fluency in English is essential
