Engineering Applications Support Manager
Would you like a varied role that involves working across all engineering functions within BAE Systems Land UK? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Application Support Manager at one of our main UK vehicle site Telford
As experts on combat vehicles, BAE Systems Land UK supply the Armed Forces with state of the art equipment. We also offer in service support and life extension programmes, along with a range of engineering and supply services.
We have exported over 10,000 vehicles to 23 countries around the world, and offer extensive support and upgrade services to our customers. Our range of vehicles includes the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank, Warrior infantry fighting vehicle, Terrier combat engineer vehicle and military bridging systems.
As an Engineering Applications Support Manager, you will support the Engineering function with regard to recommended practice use of engineering software tools (Computer Aided Design, Product Development Management, Product Lifecycle Manager Etc.) configuration management and development of solutions to complex problems. This role reports into the Information Management & Technology (IM&T) function.
This role will provide you with supporting people all day every day it is a very personable role, building relationships within the business.
Your main responsibilities as Engineering Applications Support Manager will involve:
Supporting the introduction of new software tools including test management, training and early life support
Working with Engineering leads and users to help maximise process efficiency and high levels of software utilisation within practice guidelines. Lead user awareness and provision of user support
Monitoring incident resolution performance and liaise with third party support agents
Oversee the maintenance of engineering toolsets (CAD configuration, drawing borders etc.) including the support provided by software vendors and other third parties. Identify and deliver relevant supporting documentation for new and existing toolsets.
Liaising with the wider IM&T function in support of application rationalisation and maintenance of legacy data
Supporting data quality improvement assessments and support corrective actions
Supporting IT projects such as application and infrastructure upgrades, Support business improvement and transformation projects
Providing ad-hoc technical support
Managing the IM&T Engineering Tools team workload and deliverables, team and individual development
Your skills and qualifications:
Have a degree or HND/HNC in a relevant engineering or IT based discipline with extensive engineering experience in a suitable engineering role
Be a proficient user of Siemens Teamcenter (Unified Architecture) or at least one of the major in-house CAD systems (Siemens NX or PTC CREO), SAP, MS Office Applications, have a good knowledge of engineering change management and Product Lifecycle Management concepts
Experience in implementation and development of engineering tools would be an advantage
Ability to engage with engineering specialists at all levels

Salary: £40k+ depending on experience
