Our team requires a contractor Electronics/Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will be required to primarily support Loch Goil. There is also the possibility of ad hoc support to the engineers at the Scotland sites including Rosneath, BUTEC (Kyle of Lochalsh) and the Island of Rona (accommodation and transport by helicopter is provided to the island of Rona).You will work as part of the Engineering Team and be responsible to the Team Leader (Control Systems Scotland).

You will be responsible for the operation and repair (sometimes to component level) of electronic systems used for the tracking and measurement of radiated noise and magnetic field from underwater vehicles. You will also be required to adhere to local multi-skill arrangements including sea-going work

Specific Responsibilities:

* Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and with adequate resources.

* Support the repair, maintenance and operation of a range of electronic equipment and systems associated with noise analysis, including the Range Tracking System, GPS, Radar and marine radios.

* Support short notice trials on company assets and also RN Platforms.

* Report any defect or resource issue that affects equipment availability, in good time.

* Only conduct work within the constraints of personal competency unless under direct supervision.

Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities Required:

* Minimum of HND or equivalent in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, with a bias towards Electronics.

* Diagnose and repair electronic equipment, on occasion to component level.

* Awareness of health, safety and environmental legislation.

* Working in RIBs.

* SC security clearance.

* Full UK driving licence.

Advantageous knowledge, skills and personal qualities, but not required:

* Sea Survival Training.

* Helicopter Underwater Escape Training.

* Experience with data logging equipment (GPS, Weather Monitoring etc.).

* Knowledge of network infrastructure including Fibre Optic termination.

Challenges:

* Working with and maintaining some bespoke electronic systems incorporating analogue and digital subsystems.

* Seagoing activities, surface vessels and submarines.

* Potential harsh working environment during winter.

* May be helicopter travel occasionally to Rona from Kyle of Lochalsh.

Key Accountabilities:

* Team Leader (Control Systems Scotland) in delivering a high quality service.

* Optimise range support equipment availability with well-planned, timely maintenance and repair routines.

The proposed period is for 8 weeks, but could be extended.
