Lead QA Engineer-SC Cleared

 

Summary of work

Lead QA Engineer required to provide technical leadership,

mentorship and delivery capability to an emerging team in

an award-winning transformation programme.

Who the specialist will work with

The existing team is comprised mostly of supplier,

contract and Civil Service resources. The specialist will be

expected to be embedded into current delivery teams and

will be expected to lead a small team.

What the specialist will work on

Specifically, we seek an exceptional Lead QA Engineer with

a good balance of technical understanding and strong

leadership skills who have proven experience in supporting

the development, deployment and support of services built

on a track record of stability, availability and quality.

Working arrangements

The specialist is expected to be on-site for at least four days

a week with one day optional working from home.
           Lead on building assurance capability
           Work as part of a small team of QA specialists ensuring

test plans are understood, integrated, delivered and

automated where possible
           Coordinate and manage test schedules
           Build and maintain testing artefacts, looking ahead for

future opportunities or blockers,
           Identify operational improvements and work to ensure

a stable service that can be enhanced
           Anticipate and mitigate against project challenges or risks
           Coach team members

Essential skills and experience

Technology knowledge - good experience of four or more of:
o Best Practice test approaches o Test Automation in

CI/CD pipelines
o Selenium/WebDriver test automation o Load testing

tooling
o Performance testing tooling o BDD test tooling

(Gherkin/Cucumber)
Making and guiding decisions
o Capable of making and guiding effective decisions,

explaining clearly how the decision has been reached.
o Able to make decisions characterised by managed levels

of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk

and complexity increase.
o Take ownership of problems and proactively resolves

technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions

continue to meet business requirements
Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical

o Translate technical concepts between infrastructure,

delivery management and service management so they are

understood by all
o Able to speak on behalf of technical and service

management teams and facilitate the relationships with

indirect stakeholders o Able to share knowledge and mentor

(potentially non-technical) colleagues
           Governance
o Understands technical governance and is able to participate in or deliver the assurance of a service
o Understands government requirements of governance,

auditability and accountability
           Technology knowledge - good experience of one or

more of
o Infrastructure testing tooling

o JMeter o Gatling o Load Testing o Performance Testing
o Automating OAT (for Web applications and RESTful APIs)

o Automating Acceptance Testing (for Web applications)

o Automating Regression Testing (for Web applications)

Expected contract length

12 months initial, with an optional 12 months extension
