Senior Buyer / Category Specialist - Coventry - Initial 3-month contractOur client in the utilities industry requires a Senior Buyer / Category Specialist to join their team based in Coventry on an initial 3-month contract with the view to extend.

The role:You will be responsible for daily strategic procurement operations within the HR and Corporate Services business areas. You will need to be flexible to work in other areas of the business such as legal, marketing and regulatory.You will be responsible for identifying business needs and understanding the supply chain.You will manage supplier contracts to ensure that the agreed SLAs and KPIs are met and opportunities doe improvement are identified.

Key Skills

The ideal candidate will have:Extensive experience of strategic sourcing and end to end category management.The ability to communicate with peer groups and senior stakeholders.The ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and an understanding of project management principles.Excellent negotiation skills with experience of managing a portfolio of supplier contracts and a competitive compliant tender process.Solid experience of using e-procurement and analytical tools / techniquesAn understanding of OJEU and utility procurement directives would be advantageous.An ability to work in multiple areas of the business with an in-depth understanding of contract drafting principles.An ability to deliver procurement solutions and contribute to process improvements in order to improve the customer buying experience.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:Developing and delivering of Category Strategies.Researching supply markers, assessing trends, opportunities, risks and profiling category characteristics.Managing tender events for key products to ensure value is delivered.Identifying future requirements by effective forward planning.Leading stakeholder engagement both internally and externallyScoping and developing regional and global contractual agreements.Managing contract relationships and supplier relationships.Implementing procurement change initiatives.Running high value and complex sourcing events.
