Work closely and proactively with managers and employees, supporting and assisting in all employee relation issues. Accountable for training and development activities within operations Proactively supporting managers and employees when they are encountering hinders for development. Accountable for addressing any circumstances where employees encounter difficult situations in the working environment. Ensure compliance and adherence with employment law, working environment and company policies with support of HR where required. Key activities o This is a hands-on role with the right person being responsible for supporting the Head of Operations and Supply in implementing the strategy for the function. o Support on policy and best practice implementation within operations, with a focus on harmonisation where possible. o Develop line manager capability in the understanding and application of employment law, company policies and practices to ensure consistency and manage risk. o Manage and coach managers in understanding and complying with ER policies and procedures such as disciplinary, PIP and grievance meetings for the department in conjunctions with HR as appropriate o Oversee the management and recording of staff performance via on-going review processes, in conjunction with the Training and Development Manager to drive consistency of application. o Coach managers in addressing performance concerns and managing performance as an ongoing activity. o To inspire and motivate in order to ensure Operational excellence, high employee engagement and staff performance improvement is achieved. o Has overall responsibility for maintaining accurate job descriptions/person specifications for the Operations Department. o Supports managers in the full end to end recruitment process ensuring quality people are employed right first time. o Manage attendance / holidays. o Oversee the develop of performance management tools and framework. o Lead the annual Employee Engagement project driven by results from the Employee Surveys o Ensure the provision of employee relations analytics and data as required o Liaise and escalate with the external HR company to ensure legal risks are fully considered and to ensure consistency of advice and guidance to divisional teams. o Share Feedback with Department Managers in monthly meetings. Key Personal Characteristics We are continually working to expand our expertise, through the development of our existing workforce and the recruitment of our kind of people. o You have extensive experience as a manager managing in Employee Relations within a business and working cross functionally with all departments. o You have a solid track record in employment law and implementing work environment policies. o You will demonstrate evidence of having worked within a dynamic, and fast-paced environment. o You take initiative and ownership, comfortable in leading improvement areas and deliver clear results within own scope and contributing to other teams when needed. o You have a deep understanding of translating priorities into clear actionable tasks and deliverables. o You react quickly to change and enjoy a high pace of work focusing on driving results. o You are a self-starter with a creative mind and track record of putting ideas into practice and assessing the results. o You are a down to earth and engaging teammate; you have integrity, assertiveness, and an ability to build trust; you are curious and service minded. o Evidence of continuous professional development. o Experience of creating and implementing employee relations and development interventions that have a demonstrable impact on organisational success. o Flexible approach to problem solving, balancing policy, best practice, legal and business issues to provide pragmatic solutions.
