This role is available as the company is expanding.The role.Cyber and Data Infrastructure Engineering team deploy, configure and maintain cyber security technologies and analytical data platforms.The Network Security specialist role within this team, is primarily responsible for providing specialised support for industry leading IDS / IPS platforms within a 24x7x365 Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) environment. They are responsible for being the focal point of IDS / IPS support for the CSOC and is expected to plan, co-ordinate and implement third party software updates and IDS / IPS policy tuning through a mature validation process. Finally, they will be the escalation point for technology support issues encountered and raised by analysts within the CSOC team relating to IDS / IPS service delivery and will work closely with analysts to deliver cyber defence services to our customers.Key Accountabilities.You will provide technical support for IDS / IPS platforms.You will plan, co-ordinate and implement 3rd party software upgrades to supported platforms.You will provide technical escalation support to the SOC on any escalated IDS / IPS issue or IDS / IPS event, providing appropriate levels of coaching and guidance.You'll be responsible for the resolution or escalation of incidents to meet SLAs.You will demonstrate good knowledge of all network security components.You will identify security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives.You will develop knowledge of attack types and fine tuning detective capabilities such as writing IDS / IPS signatures.Knowledge needed.You need knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologiesYou need knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principlesYou need knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilitiesYou should have knowledge of host/network access control mechanisms (e.g., access control list, capabilities lists)You should have knowledge of how traffic flows across the network (e.g., Transmission Control Protocol [TCP] and Internet Protocol [IP], Open System Interconnection Model [OSI], Information Technology Infrastructure Library, current version [ITIL])Skills needed.You need skill in applying host/network access controls (e.g., access control list).You need skill in securing network communications.You need skill in protecting a network against malware. (e.g., NIPS, anti-malware, restrict/prevent external devices, spam filters).You need skill in system, network, and OS hardening techniques.
