One of the United Kingdom's leading providers of waste-to-energy and recycling services within the United Kingdom is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to hold multi-site responsibility as they continue to play an integral role in delivering renewable energy for the country. This is an excellent opportunity to join an international organisation with coverage in countries across Europe and the USA.Scope of workAs Engineering Manager, you will play an integral role in overseeing the safe, compliant and efficient operation of multiple waste-to-product sites across the UK, two of which are based in the Cumbria region. Leading teams of site-based maintenance supervisors and technicians, you will ensure the effective delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance programmes, ensuring downtime is minimised at all times. In addition, you will also ensure proper use of a stock system by all staff to maintain the quality stock management of spares and critical parts.Working in-line with the UK's Central Engineering Department, as Engineering Manager you will lead continuous improvement projects onsite and be proactive in your support for the development of operational systems and practices, co-ordinating and assisting in both mechanical and electrical plant upgrades to ensure on-time, to-budget project delivery. This role will require you to drive operational excellence across each site, installing a results-focused performance culture that realises productivity targets in the process.Alongside the engineering and operational responsibilities, you will also be accountable for the delivery of the full service delivery contract, developing a working relationship with the client to ensure all aspects of contract delivery are optimised such as service delivery plans and contract targets. Furthermore, you hold ownership of the budget-setting process and deliver agreed financial performance in-line with operational targets.The position is based in Cumbria but will also require travel to facilities in Scotland as, and when, required.You will:Be qualified in mechanical engineering (HNC/HND/Degree-level), and would ideally have electrical knowledge.Have experience leading planned preventative maintenance programmesBe experience in managing engineering or operational teamsHave an in-depth understanding of health, safety and environmental complianceHave previously worked within the waste sector or other process-based industries such as waste-water, manufacturing or quarrying.Be able to work from their Cumbria facilityBe able to travel to other sites as, and when, required.
