Test Team Lead

Leatherhead

To £60K plus extensive benefits package.

Due to the secure nature of this work, all candidates must be British Nationals and already hold or be eligible to hold UK Security Clearance to SC level or higher.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Test Team Lead will effectively lead a team of test analysts working on our Smart Metering programme, ensuring the workload of the team is effectively planned to ensure timely delivery, as well as assisting team members with issues and defect triage and reporting.

Leading the software testing team will entail allocation of resources and management of work currently being tested, contributing to the quality of the software produced and identifying product risks through the testing performed. The Test Team lead will be responsible for encouraging career development and personal growth within their team to ensure we maximise the team’s full potential.

Accurate reporting, collaboration with project stakeholders and associated delivery teams in resolution of issues or defects is also a key aspect of this role. The Test Team Lead will also, from time to time, be required to keep hands-on by producing and running tests and raising defects.

Other activities could include knowledge sharing, engaging with designers/developer to clarify features and functionality, functional and non-functional testing, defect tracking and leading the development of the software testing process.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate an ability to lead a team of system testers of varying degrees of experience and ability. This would suit an experienced and forward-thinking team leader or a tester looking to make the step up to the team leading level.

Experience of Unix, XML and ALM are desirable, and experience with SQL interrogation into relational databases (Oracle) plus experience in quality assurance would also be desirable.

Knowledge/experience gained in the test and defect management tools the team uses is important - for example HP ALM or Open Source (Jira), likely built on testing experience gained in a structured testing environment, likely around Waterfall, V-model or Agile.

Any experience of working in the Utilities Sector or knowledge of Smart Metering would also be desirable but is not essential.

However, for this team and this role, attitude is just as important as experience and we are looking for forward thinking individuals with real abilities to lead and motivate teams to deliver time and quality.

Position Description:

Be part of something engaging and join us as a Test Team Lead working with a group of talent test analysts working on a flag-ship Smart Metering program for the business. This represents a unique opportunity to lead a small team of test analysts and would suit an enthusiastic and committed test professional keen to make a real and valued contribution to a significant project.

This role is based out of our Leatherhead offices on a full-time basis, with a degree of flexibility around travel required.
