Role Purpose

The Enterprise Network Architect may manage a small/medium design team. They are a competent design authority on larger or more complex solutions, demonstrating an understanding of the customer's business and commercial issues.

With responsibility for the design and communication of architectures, strategies and specific solutions, the role holder will enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs. Changes to service, process, organization, operating model and other aspects may be required in addition to technology components, therefore solutions must demonstrate how agreed requirements (such as automation of business processes) are met, any requirements which are not fully met or, and any options or considerations which require a business decision. The role holder will provide comprehensive guidance on the development of, and modifications to, solution components to ensure that they take account of relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices and that existing and planned solution components remain compatible.

Key AccountabilitiesDefines major technical projects for customers or Client Services, influencing their view of acceptable investment levelDetermines strategies, architectures and proposals.Shapes technical proposals to be acceptable to the customer and advises on solution/service trade-offs where appropriate.May lead a large design team, defining the approach to larger/more complex solution development and acceptance testing, and identifying strategic level risks and remedies.Determines the approach to whole classes of business, leading and influencing others in the development of new offerings.Works with customers to understand their business strategy and develop IT strategies and architecture for significant areas of their business.Manages a team to agree customer requirements and produce the design, setting high level criteria for the design of major solutions and exercising design control over the implementation.Communicates the impact of emerging technologies on customer and Client Services business to senior level customers and client Services businesses.Shares knowledge with colleagues and makes useful additions to the client knowledge base.

Skills / ExperiencePrevious experience of delivery at an Enterprise Network Architect level with responsibility for network design leadership Subject matter expert for Juniper networking technologiesAbility to drive through Juniper Operating System faults (JTAC) through process, influence Juniper development / resolution processDelivery experience in Juniper space for WAN design, delivery, implementation and migrationsExperience in architecting and operating WAN / LAN across UK and OverseasDefine WAN standards for architecture, configuration and toolingAbility to set direction to enable automation exploiting existing tool-setsAbility and experience operating across all security tiersProvide network leadership to environments to ensure they are maintained and up to dateHands on delivery experience where necessary in order to progress activitiesProvide support, leadership and guidance to design/solution architect teamsLeadership and guidance in setting direction, continuous improvement in network operational management to ensure WAN estate is optimised and efficientMentoring and upskilling of teamsRelationship management including suppliers and customerAbility to provide leadership and advice and guidance to customer changes including other network architects/solution architects delivering implementationAbility to set direction on traffic management and estate wider traffic flows to optimise customer experience and service delivery
