Applications are invited for this fixed-term post as a Web Development Engineer in the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education, School of Health Sciences, Division of Pharmacy and Optometry based in the Stopford Building at the University of Manchester. The CPPE team is very well established with many long serving members of staff in Manchester.

You will join a small and well-established IT team within CPPE to lead the development of a C#/VB .Net web application to replace a legacy CRM/booking system. The system to be replaced is essentially a CRM system managing users, learning programmes and events with integrations into other applications and services. The data is stored in MS SQL and there are also reporting requirements to be fulfilled by the solution.

You will be expected to use excellent communication skills to work closely with the non-technical users of the system to ensure requirements are captured appropriately and the end product is a fit for purpose system that supports the team's needs.

You will be joining an experienced team of IT developers however you will be bringing technological expertise that is new to the team and there is an expectation that you will knowledge transfer and upskill the existing team during your time at CPPE.

The end product will follow industry standard techniques for data management, be built in the latest stable version of C# .Net MVC / Core and use appropriate libraries such as JQuery and Bootstrap with a front-end interface taking advantage of scripting tools such as React or Angular JS.

Although the majority of the focus of the role will be on the legacy upgrade project there is an expectation that the skills of the post holder will also be used on other projects, be that a supporting or developmental role.
