Lead Migration EngineerGlasgow10 Months The client works with schools, colleges, universities and training organisations to develop and deliver qualifications and assessments. Around 15,000 teaching professionals and industry specialists support the client operations annually, helping to ensure that the client qualifications accurately reflect learner's knowledge and skills and provide routes to jobs or further study. Based in Scotland, the client works across the UK and internationally. Our people take great pride in offering exceptional customer service - which is acknowledged by government organisations, universities, businesses and individuals throughout the world.Role Purpose:The following skills and experience are desired across a team of 5 resources to deliver a large scale application migration from a legacy platform to a new infrastructure platform. Resources should have significant experience in large scale application migrations and one resource should act as principal engineer to lead the full team across the lifespan of the project, reporting in to the Project Manager.Skills required:Puppet (experience of writing run books and implementing new automation solution),VMWare, Windows System Administration, Apache (experience in the operational management of web servers)Linux system administration (experience of CentOS and other operating systems, as well as knowledge of developing standard OS hardened builds)Middleware (mix of Jboss and IIS),BASH scriptingPowerShell (experience in additional languages such as Python, or Ruby and exposure to automation tools would be beneficial)SQL (experience of Ingres and performing upgrades)Storage (experience of NetApp and storage migrations),Networks, Security (integration with Active Directory)Excellent documentation and handover skillsKnowledge and skills transfer expertiseExperience in large scale legacy migration projects
