DevOps Engineer

Location - Cambridgeshire

Duration - 9 months initially

Day Rate - £400

IR35 - Inside (Must Use an Umbrella Company)

A public sector client of ours is looking for a DevOps Engineer to work on pipelines developed to process biological and genomic data in a medical research setting. You will implement and fine tune existing tools, and, as time goes by, you will optimise and automate processes that develop new functionality.

You will work independently as well as a part of a small team.

This is a maternity cover.

About you

We expect candidates to have:

* An degree in a scientific discipline

* Strong programming and scripting skills, with an emphasis on Perl and/or Python, BASH, SQL

* With significant experience using these in a professional setting

* Knowledge of R would also be helpful, especially for data visualisation.

Candidates should have familiarity with:

* Multiple platforms and operating systems, especially Linux and Windows, and use of remote compute clusters

* MySQL server, and associated schema design

* Version control systems (git, GitHub)
