Our client is an exciting new company that's looking to change how the public views and uses the aviation industry. Their mission is to make air travel personal, on-demand and carbon-free.
They're now looking for an outstanding Systems Engineer who combines superb technical knowledge and experience with a demonstrated ability to bring a common sense approach to get the right things done quickly and effectively.
Our client wants to bring the very latest technologies and development methodologies to what is traditionally a slow industry. This role is to develop from the ground up the Platform Avionics, Control Systems and Ground Systems to produce this new aircraft.
The role is full time and will require the successful candidate to be very flexible in terms of work content and to be well-motivated.
The Principal Avionic Systems Engineer must have broad engineering experience delivering programs throughout the entire lifecycle. An aerospace or automotive background with physics-based modelling experience is preferred.
As the Principal Avionic Systems Engineer, your duties will include:
- Leading avionics development work packages
- Requirements capture, decomposition and traceability
- Architecture design with performance / complexity / development trade offs
- Compliance to relevant aerospace standards
- Fault tree / safety analysis
- System simulation
- Verification programme design
- Presenting complex system information in an understandable way to all levels of the business
- Mentoring junior engineers
Basic Qualifications/Experience
- 15+ years relevant engineering experience which includes avionics development
- An understanding of the systems that make up the avionics suite
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Proficiency in SysML
- Experience of designing system of system products
- Knowledge of software and hardware engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle
- Knowledge of relevant aerospace standards (ARP4754, DO-178/254/160)
- Proficiency in basic coding (Python, C or C++ etc)
- Experience with MATLAB Simulink
- Experience in communicating with senior management, as well as technical and business teams to collect requirements, describe product features and technical designs
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Experience of certifying to aerospace standards
- A Master's or PhD in relevant Engineering discipline
- Experience with building and testing systems on small UAS
- An understanding of machine learning techniques
- Experience in data analysis
- Experience with hardware/software integration in real time and non real time systems
