About us
From backing new ways of generating and storing energy, to driving efficiency and performance in energy use, our projects are critical to achieving a low-carbon future and putting the UK at the forefront of energy innovation. We are Science and Innovation for Climate and Energy (SICE), a multi-disciplinary directorate of the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Our responsibilities include the delivery and management of a £505 million Energy Innovation Programme, running to March 2021. 
The role
We have opportunities across several teams in SICE, each focused on different low-carbon energy themes including nuclear, smart energy, built environment and cross-cutting energy innovation. You will develop and manage a portfolio of projects, which will include engaging industry, academia and other partners, and undertaking competitions to allocate funding for the development of technologies and business models. Your work will involve identifying innovation needs, overseeing delivery, including robust financial oversight and control, and communicating the aims and outcomes of the innovation programme to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.  
About you
These roles would suit people who combine technical expertise with project management skills, and who are ready for the challenge of developing and delivering a range of  ground-breaking projects. You will need a relevant academic, technical or professional qualification, and confidence in dealing with both quantitative and qualitative data. Some roles require specific experience in managing innovation projects. One of the key tasks is to engage, influence and work collaboratively with internal BEIS and external stakeholders, so good communication skills are essential.  A strong focus on project delivery is also important.
