Global Trade Compliance Manager

Roke Manor Research Limited is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Global Trade Compliance Manager to join our professional team.

The successful candidate will provide overall responsibility for export control, licencing and compliance across the business.

What will your role look like?

As the Global Trade Compliance Manager you will provide overall responsibility for export control, licencing and compliance across the business. Support all areas of the business on export related matters, ensuring compliance against UK, EU and Overseas (e.g. US) regulations and the Company's export policies and procedures. You will provide training to staff on export matters and advise the business on the up to date regulations and changes, addressing the impact on the business where applicable.

This role carries a great level of responsibility and will require a determined and persuasive individual in order to have a real impact on the business.

Responsibilities:

To provide support to all areas of the business on export related matters including licencing and compliance;                                                          

Ensure compliance with legal requirements including UK, EU and overseas export regulations such as US EAR and ITAR;                                                                        

Ensure compliance with company export policies and procedures and liaise with external export and legal experts as required;                                                                        

Keep abreast of latest developments in export controls and regulations and advise the business accordingly;                                                          

Conduct internal and external (UK BIS etc) export audits. To establish an Audit Plan to ensure compliance is maintained;                                                                        

Provide assistance to the Marketing and Shipping Departments on import clearance and licensing regulations worldwide;                                                                        

Ensure, through guidance, training and communication (presentations, flyers etc) that export controls, regulations, policies and procedures are understood by key staff in the business;                                                          

Ensure that appropriate export licences and approvals are applied for, are in place, monitored and maintained.                                                          

Advising on export issues throughout the stages of new product and business development

Prepare and submit F680 Approval applications in support of promotional activities and to support OGEL use where applicable;

Review and approval of Technology Control Plans prepared by project managers to define the handling, control, monitoring and disposal of ITAR technology received by the business

Review of applicable Open General Export Licences, register for, monitor and maintain as appropriate;                                           

Manage the administration of Licences (SIELs, OIEL's and OGELs) in accordance with licencing guidelines;                             

Advise the business on the impact of any embargoes, sanctions affecting its licences and international business in general;                                                                        

Update, develop and maintain the Export Licence databases as appropriate;

Liaise with procurement in respect to supplier export classifications and end user undertaking requests, particularly in respect of EAR/ITAR restrictions;

Help develop and maintain the intranet Export Control web page to provide the latest information and guidance to the business;                                           

Prepare and issue monthly status reports;               

Establish and be responsible for maintaining ongoing relationships with key export stakeholders including UK BIS;                                           

Meet all export licencing targets as agreed with Line Manager;               

Maintaining a high performance culture of business excellence and continuous improvement.

 What do we need from you?

You should have experience and be competent in the field of export control management with a proven success in export control and have experience and understanding of:-                                     

export control compliance including in particular UK, EU, US (EAR/ITAR) regulations;

export control lists and the ability to advise on the export classification of technology and products accordingly;

The BIS "SPIRE" system.

You will also:                                                             

Have excellent training and presentation skills.                                           

Be a confident communicator and be able to interact with colleagues and customers at all levels. Close liaison with our business managers and project teams will be required, so relationship building will be key;

Be self-motivated and driven, have the ability to influence and the skills to succeed;

Be focused on business strategy, and be analytical and highly commercially aware in your approach;                                           

Be prepared to provide a very supporting role, advising on what it takes to successfully undertake export business;                                                          

Be dedicated to continual improvement, and be able to coach peers effectively.

It is essential that you are educated to degree level or equivalent, in a Business or Export based discipline and hold appropriate export qualifications.
