Data Developer - SQL Server / Excel - City of London - Permanent - £45k - £50k per Annum.

The Company

An experienced Data Developer with advanced SQL Server and Excel knowledge is required by a Financial Services company, based in the City of London.

The Role

This position will provide management information and data analysis as required helping the business manage and improve services. Working with other teams in the business to identify areas where data analytics could deliver benefit and drive these through to implementation. To assist with the take-on, cleansing, analysis and preparation of current and future data sets within predefined guidelines and standards for the purposes of claims processing, tracking and analysis.

Responsibilities

*Confirm the data is extracted, transferred and loaded correctly

*Analyse data to correctly determine its proportions and other key metrics

*Identify and plan steps to address underlying data quality issues that may prevent or inhibit

*Prepare regular management information and ad hoc reports for the business teams using defined templates and standards to agreed timescales

*Ensure reports produced are accurate and presented in a way that enables the recipient to identify key points and use the information in their own role. Any issues identified during report preparation are drawn to the attention of the appropriate managers

*Build and execute a process to reconcile data between multiple data sources

*Recommend additional activities in order to address any existing lack of controls around the different data sources (e.g. ongoing data validation)

*Identify and raise opportunities for improvements to the data processes

*Obtain business buy in, document the proposed approach and agree it with business

*Ensure that the process for take-on complies with the standards and agreed procedures for data handling and the Data Protection Act

Experience Required

*Educated to degree level or equivalent

*Significant experience of SQL Server skills

*Advanced MS Excel skills - including writing macros in VB or VBA

*Previous experience of working with data related tools and techniques

*Ability to rapidly understand high level concepts

*Ability to reverse-engineer and analyse existing processes

*Significant experience of working in a technical role in a data management environment

*Understanding and experience of data structures, including data dictionary and building data models
