Business Services Organisation (BSO) is part of Health and Social Care, the largest employer in Northern Ireland with approximately 70,000 staff covering all elements of the delivery of Health and Social care.  BSO provides a broad range of shared services including regional business support functions and specialist professional services to HSC.  This includes Enterprise IT services and the delivery of a range of transformational technology-led programmes and projects for use by all HSC organisations. These IT services are delivered by the ITS function within the Customer Care and Performance Directorate of the BSO.

BSO Information Technology Services has a requirement for a Head of Operations. The Head of Operation's responsibility will include leading the delivery of a portfolio consisting of all operations services delivered by ITS to Managed ICT Services and Enterprise ICT services customers. (This will exclude infrastructure services which are the remit of the Head of Infrastructure).The role will involve management and oversight of all operational services including responsibility for service management and customer management for all services (including infrastructure services). The Head of operations is also responsible for operations input into projects and programmes delivered by BSO ITS including specialist functions such as integration. A key part of the role will be the management of the transition from programme/project into live operation.

The scope of the managed IT service will typically include:

End user computing, service desk, networks, email, office applications, telephony, mobile , file storage and collaboration, printing, hosting and support of line of business systems, managed internet and intranet and security, remote access

Electronic Care Record,

Theatre Management,

NIPACS clinical imaging

Patient Administration system(PAS),

Emergency Department

Laboratories/Pathology

Pharmacy stock control

Maternity

RISOH ( Oncology and Haematology)

Shared Services IT for HRPTS and FPL

Data warehouse

Integration services

GMS ICT

FPS payments system

Child Health

GMS ICT

Patient Portal

The Head of Operations will be one of 3 direct reports to the Assistant Director of BSO ITS working closely with the other 2 direct reports, the Head of Infrastructure and Head of Programme Delivery.

A key part of the role, in addition to Operations, will be to act represent the interests of the BSO, the Director CCP and AD ITS within all programme governance structures and other forums as required. This will require the post holder to have detailed knowledge not only of all Operations activity but also detailed working knowledge of the ITS Programme Delivery and Infrastructure functions.

The successful applicant will have experience of delivering Operations services at an Enterprise scale.
