A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a 2nd Line Support Engineer to join an expanding IT company, taking responsibility for monitoring and maintaining client’s computer systems as well as supporting the future development of the technical team.

Working from lovely offices in Bolton, Greater Manchester, you will be joining a company who is a provider of computer series and solutions throughout the UK, working closely with a range of local and national companies, from small businesses with single offices to large corporates, designing and delivering bespoke IT services.

As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, your daily duties will include:

           Providing 2nd line technical support across the customer base on a wide range of vendor platforms.
           Tracking all problems thoroughly through the management system and taking ownership of all calls escalated to you through to resolution according to customers processes and systems.
           Collaborating with other teams to provide Level two and three troubleshooting.
           Owning and driving projects utilising knowledge and experience to ensure customer needs are met. Pro-actively planning and remaining adaptable to the changing needs of each project.
           Assisting the Technical Director with Data Centre operations and development.
           Identifying and exploring new technologies that could advance customers infrastructure to improve performance, reliability and availability.
           Adapting and improving internal monitoring systems.
           Ensuring all processes and procedures are followed and updated when required.
           Working with teams to ensure excellent customer service is provided at all times.
           Helping the team with troubleshooting and overall development needs.

To be a successful 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will have the following skills and experiences:

           A strong desire to learn new technologies and previous experience of working in a similar environment.
           To be commercially aware with the ability to communicate with others clearly in relation to technical matters.
           High-quality customer service skills.
           Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
           Well organised with excellent time management skills.
           Experience of remote troubleshooting and working within a managed service provider environment.
           Knowledge and understanding of ITIL best practice.
           Skilled in Microsoft Windows 7/8/10, Microsoft Active Directory and Desktop OS.
           Strong working knowledge of Windows Server Environments - DNS, DHCP, Active Directory etc and the ability to recognise when AD is not set up as it should be.
           Remote Desktop Services experience such as VDI.
           Knowledge of Citrix XenServer, VMWare ESXi and other virtualisation solutions.
           A good understanding of network infrastructure.
           Networking monitoring tool experience such as PRTG.

In return, an Engineer will receive a salary of £23,000 - £28,000 per annum.
