Quality Engineer

Role Purpose:A leading defence and security company are looking to bring in a Quality Engineer who is responsible for providing assurance that the business and its suppliers are operating safely, compliantly, efficiently and effectively in a given domain, identifying continuous improvements to meet the requirements of regulators and the business and assuring a suppliers ability to deliver a fit-for-purpose on-time output, and identifying any actions required to be made to improve supplier performance.

Key Accountabilities:You will be responsible for the Planning and development of detailed scopes of audit, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulation, standards and process in the conduct of audit;On time delivery (against the audit schedule, projects & suppliers) of process and product audits to assure safety and compliance regimes are effective and maintained;Identification of actions to maintain and, in areas of non-conformance, return to, compliance with relevant legislation, regulation, management standards (ISO) and process;Proactive identification, immediate action as necessary and communication to suitable levels of any risk associated with the ability of the company and its Supply Chain to be safe and comply with relevant legislation, regulation, standards and process;Identification and sharing of areas of good practice and process across the business;Acting as the voice of quality and conscience of the organisation in engaging with stakeholders across the business;Provide assurance of the overall supply chain, identifying key risk areas and proactively recommending action and approaches to manage this risk

Key Capabilities / Knowledge:

Demonstrable understanding of relevant legislation, regulation, management standards (ISO) and contractual standards in relevant domains for the role;Demonstrable ability to balance robustness and collaborative support, to ensure suitable assurance whilst maintaining a one-company approach;Possess a keen eye for detail and ability to proactively identify risks before they become issues to the business;

* Track Record of delivery of audits and assurance in a complex and diverse domain;

* Understanding of how regulation and contractual standards flow down to suppliers;

* Demonstrably experienced auditor;

* Knowledge of customer specific quality management system requirements;

* Excellent relationship building skills and demonstrable ability to work with third parties;

* Strong team working ethic.

Experience & Qualifications:

* ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (BS EN 9100 Lead Auditor where required) is desirable;

* Effective and influential communicator at multiple levels, able to engage with detail or summarise as required by the recipient;

* Experience of using root cause methodologies to identify true root causes and support subsequent improvement;

* Experience of Engineering and Project Management processes;

* ISO 27001 & TickIT plus experience desirable.
