IT Systems Engineer

My client, a well established and globally recognised company is looking for a Systems Engineer to join their growing IT team at their East Midlands head office on the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire border.

The Systems Engineer will work in a small, but very experienced team and will be heavily involved with; backup of corporate systems, project work, on-going support and documentation.

Key responsibilities:

*Prioritize production-critical issues and escalate issues to the appropriate technical staff

*Complete assigned tasks and normal duties with limited direct supervision

*Assist in planning, design, documentation and implementation of various systems

*Develop, publish and adhere to standards, policies, and procedures

*Maintain network based applications / services

*Install, configure and support Microsoft operating systems and environments

*Have an understanding and the ability to support and maintain a backend infrastructure relating to an ERP system and associated web applications

*Monitor and support network services for Active Directory and Exchange services

*New system procurement, set up, configuration and installation

*On-going maintenance, system checks, security set up and support for existing systems

*Monitor and ensure success of backup processes

*Actively involved in problem resolution, follow-up, testing, workarounds and equipment suggestions

*Assist in the inventory of all hardware and software resources

*Provide remote and on-site technical support

*Provide emergency on-call support as needed

*Facilitate warranty claims and exchanges

*Travel to both domestic and international locations where required

*Perform accurate and timely updates of tickets in the company tracking system

Key skills and experience required:

*Demonstrable experience working in Infrastructure Engineering roles

*Must be able to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.

*VMware experience including building and deploying new servers/appliances

*Active Directory and Exchange services experience

*Customer interaction skills

*Proven organization and communication skills

*Ability and willingness to travel, work remotely and independently

*Position requires a valid driver's license and passport.
