Our client a global tier one bank is engaged in a strategic multi-year program to enable transformative machine learning and big data analytics via public cloud technology platforms, including Google Cloud Platform. The person hired into this role will engineer and operate the existing GCP environment being used within this initiative, and which is currently providing a secure Lab capability to multiple business divisions globally. This requires partnering directly with Google and other technology vendors and internal and external partners to further enhance the environment and enable business innovation. As we are working to establish a foundational and transformative capability for the bank, this is a very rare opportunity to play a key role in a high profile and high impact initiative.

Key Responsibilities

-Configuration, documentation, and daily operation and enhancement of the environment

-Terraforming the current deployment

oOrganization, G-Suite, Projects & VPCs, IAM Roles and segregation of duties, Security

-POC engineering work for various components and supporting a wide range of business initiatives

oNLP, Dataproc, BigQuery, Dataflow, Datalab & ML, GKE/Kubeflow, Istio, Composer/Airflow, etc.

Essentials Skills and Qualifications:

1.Google Cloud certification, ideally Professional Cloud Architect

2.Strong Linux, security, and networking background

3.Good software development skills (sufficient to implement PoCs / reference implementations)

4.Strong academic background in Computer Science or related STEM fields

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

-Experience of cloud analytics engineering on GCP (including broad knowledge of components and capabilities, especially those relevant to ML and data analytics pipelines); up to date on latest releases

-Operations / devops / sysadmin skills: good hands on knowledge, and solid on the basics (gcloud SDK, Terraform, git, optionally Go)

-Good knowledge of the range of core GCP concepts and components (GCE, VPCs, Shared VPCs, Routing, Firewalls, Dataproc, BigQuery, IAM, Organization), as well as security (VPC Service Controls, Routes, KMS) and networking (NAT, Gateway, DNS)

-Experience of application ops using GKE, containers (Docker, Registry, Cloud Build)

-Good data engineering skills in Python and/or Java, including knowledge of Airflow/Composer, Spark/Dataproc, and Dataflow, plus an understanding of how to deploy, operate and manage these systems
