A Team Lead's duties are diverse; these range from work assignment to managing team delivery, driving best practice, to maintaining team morale - and making decisions to help the business deliver its goals and keep the company ahead of the game. Team leads are critically important in their team's reviews and setting objectives. This is an important role for both higher management and team members alike.
The role will be based in our busy, cutting edge, cross-functional Marketing Design & Development Team and front-end developers will be working on projects including, but not limited to: multi-device interactive promotions, engaging mini games and responsive landing pages and microsites.
Set team objectives - provide clarity on what tasks needs to be completed, outputs required and timescales, ensuring that these are realistic and the employee has the right level of competence and resources to enable them to deliver. Be clear on what standards are expected and what behaviours are encouraged/ discouraged. Hold teams accountable for meeting goals and the quality of work they produce.
Optimise team performance - organise team processes to ensure outputs and delivery are optimised. This means tweaking the team's practices, and working with Stakeholders to ensure early understanding of delivery issues.
Assess performance against team objectives. Provide regular feedback to employees on their performance. Conduct fair, balanced and constructive bi-annual reviews/ rating of an individual's performance against the delivery of their goals and work behaviours and attitudes. Team Leads have visibility of their teams' reward structure and so propose salary changes at annual salary review to next level management.
Team communication - clearly communicate the company's vision and specific objectives to the team, ensuring that everybody understands their individual roles and responsibilities. Cascade relevant company announcements and keep the team up to date on the reasons for any new developments or changes in goals or in the organisation. Collect regular feedback from the team and determine actions on this, acting decisively to remove barriers to success, where possible. Periodically update the company on the team's progress.
Foster an atmosphere of trust and open dialogue - Ensure staff experience a working environment where they can voice questions, suggestions or constructive dissent for open discussion. Provide support and coaching rather than criticism, even where mistakes have been made. Treat all team members fairly, equally and with respect.
Team development - take an active interest in and support individuals' personal development. Identify areas where individuals in the team can improve and either provide one-to-one or team coaching or support them to identify suitable development resources. Understand the career aspirations of the individuals in the team and be able to provide useful and actionable on going feedback on their performance, progress and personal development.
Team collaboration - if team decisions need to be made, the Team Leader should consult the team through managed discussions, ensuring involvement and that discussions are focused and productive, and where necessary lead to a decision.
Team motivation - motivate the team to work toward their objectives, boosting morale where it is found to be low by identifying why morale is low and taking specific action to try to fix any problems.
Recognition - ensure employees are visibly recognised for consistent great work or an outstanding one-off contribution to the organisation.
Be a role model for effective team working - set an example to the team on how to work effectively and carry out tasks to the best of their ability. "Practice what you preach".
Engage with wider business - Engage upwards or with adjacent teams to contribute to continuous improvement and collaboration and communication.
A good Team Lead will have the ability to communicate well, build relationships, and to motivate a team. They will tend to be inquisitive, positive, enthusiastic and empowering. Born in 2001 with just a handful of developers, we are now over 1200 employees strong across 7 group offices worldwide with our headquarters in Central London. Over 24 million players enjoy our 258 games, generating on average 6,028 chat messages every 15 minutes!
Whether it be through the awards we've won for innovation in Bingo and Slots, our commitment to using cutting edge technology, or simply our passion to innovate, thrill, and surprise, Gamesys constantly pushes the boundaries to be the best in class.
Our culture is visible everywhere. Visit our reception - you'll find sweets and a giant monkey, in the design team a giant red lamp and the latest quad core mac pros; the breakout areas a Gamesys pool table and fridges full of beer, wine and soft drinks. In the meeting rooms you might find grass instead of carpet, in the summer you'll meet all our families together for a celebration and in the winter you can find Mexican wrestlers or circus acts roaming around. Weekly social and sports events give you the opportunity to stretch both your mind and body, whether it be getting involved in a meetup or brownbag session, playing in the poker tournament or joining one of the many sports teams. But our culture is not just in what you can see it's in everything we do, we're hard workers and we get stuck in. We have fun, making fun and our vision is to invent, play and discover together, to craft experiences that thrill our players and rock the world.
