A globally renowned constructor in rail and transportation infrastructure is currently seeking a proven Head of HSE to lead the safe delivery of their projects and represent the business when liaising with external bodies and clients. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established, international firm working on some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom.

Scope of work

Working from their Swindon Headquarters 2-3 times a week, the Head of HSE will regularly travel to sites to ensure the safe, successful delivery in compliance with HSE regulations. Initially, the majority of projects will be London-based for the foreseeable future, but have scope to extend on a national basis moving forward.

As Head of HSE, you will be tasked with developing and implementing a behavioural-based safety program, as well as representing the organisation at relevant industry forums within the rail sector. It is important that in this role, you maintain company standards to all registrations and accreditation's, incorporate HSE requirements into management systems and undertake audits of the business and its supply chain to ensure compliance throughout. Furthermore, you will liaise with internal departments throughout the company such as Business Development, with whom you'll provide expertise on pre-qualification questionnaires and tenders.

Managing a team of project-based H&S advisors across the United Kingdom, you will provide support in their jobs and professional development. You will also produce monthly HSQE reports for the board meeting and deliver to Senior Managers within the business.

Please note that CMIOSH is an essential requirement for this role as it is a requirement of the contractor's licence with Network Rail.

You will:

* Be a Chartered Health & Safety Professional (CMIOSH)

* Have an in-depth knowledge of rail HS&E requirements

* Be experienced leading HS&E within a rail construction environment

* Possess a thorough knowledge of H&S and environmental statutory legislation

* Be an IIRCA certified internal auditor

* Have knowledge of CDM regulations

* Be able to delivery HS&E training to employee's and sub-contractors

* Have a knowledge of TfL QUENSH conditions and requirements

* Be able to travel to projects across the United Kingdom as and when required.
