Full time, and flexible working patterns will be considered. Because turning it off and on again doesn't always work. At HMGCC, we're constantly designing and delivering communication systems that protect the UK. It's a complex job, so ours is a world of custom one-offs, pioneering products and innovative ideas. And now, we're looking for natural problem solvers to join our Service Operation Centre (SOC) to support HM Government - both in the UK and abroad. Our SOC department helps to deliver enterprise grade applications and services for wider government. To keep up with ever-evolving demands, we're now updating existing technologies and replacing legacy applications. With this large modernisation programme taking place, it's an exciting time to join. The role
As part of our Web Systems Administration Team, your main role will be to maintain and developing web technologies and infrastructures. This means getting involved in building, testing and implementing significant systems enhancements. You'll also lead and co-ordinate large-scale Problem Investigations. This is a chance to own projects from beginning to end, test out cutting-edge technology, and work in a way you're comfortable with - as long as it fits within our technology roadmap and ITIL best practices framework. Your profile
With a genuine curiosity for tech, you'll have a range of skills and perhaps have specialist knowledge in a certain area. We'll expect you to have experience in these areas:  Experience configuring and supporting Linux-based Web infrastructure. Using scripting technologies (Python, Bash, JavaScript etc.). Experience using containerisation software. Experience supporting the application lifecycle - that includes development, test, integration and support. Not only will you give us integral advice and technical input, but you'll also share your knowledge with - and be a mentor to - less experienced IT System Engineers. To join, you'll need to be proactive and forward-thinking. And to really excel, you'll also: Bring your initiative and ability to prioritise a variety of work in order to meet deadlines. Think creatively to produce innovative approaches and solutions. Set clearly defined, realistic objectives and deadlines. Enjoy working in a team. Rewards
In return, we'll provide all the training you need to develop your skills. You'll also get a great rewards package that includes flexible hours and a welcoming workplace. *If you are relocating to the area then we can discuss the possibility of a relocation package. To apply to HMGCC you must be a born or naturalised British citizen, over 21 years old and primarily have lived in the UK for the last ten years. In addition, one of your parents must be a British citizen, or have substantial ties to the UK.
