Because turning it off and on again doesn't always work.
At HMGCC, we're constantly designing and delivering communication systems that protect the UK. It's a complex job, so ours is a world of custom one-offs, pioneering products and innovative ideas. And now, we're looking for natural problem solvers to join our Service Operation Centre (SOC) and support HM Government - both in the UK and abroad.
Our SOC department helps deliver enterprise grade applications and services for wider government. To keep up with ever-evolving demands, we're now updating existing technologies and replacing legacy applications. With this large modernisation programme taking place, it's an exciting time to join.
The role
As the first point of contact to our diverse user base, it's essential you deliver a professional service. In this key role, you'll work with the user to help assess and understand their tech issues. By using your customer service skills, working with others, and gaining technical knowledge, you'll learn how to determine the correct course of action that fixes your users' issues. As part of our SLA environment, you'll also monitor outstanding calls to ensure that they are resolved within appropriate timescales.
Your profile
With a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service and the drive to learn new technical skills, we'll expect you to have experience in these areas:

Excellent communication skills, able to express information in a clear and logical way, while also listening and adapting to conversations appropriately.
Experience keeping detailed records.
Experience using IT such as Microsoft Office applications and the internet.
Able to prioritise workload and tasks with different levels of impact.

To join, you'll need to be proactive and forward-thinking. And to really excel, you'll also:

Treat everyone with respect.
Be responsive to customer requirements.
Constantly learn from opportunities, including mistakes.
Lead with a "can-do" attitude, even when you're faced with a challenging situation.
Work co-operatively with others to achieve goals.

In return, we'll provide all the training you need to develop your skills. You'll also get a great rewards package that includes flexible hours and a welcoming workplace.
*If you are relocating to the area then we can discuss the possibility of a relocation package.
To apply to HMGCC you must be a born or naturalised British citizen, over 21 years old and primarily have lived in the UK for the last ten years. In addition, one of your parents must be a British citizen, or have substantial ties to the UK.
