Experis IT are currently recruiting for a BI Consultant to join one of our key clients based in Solihull. They are a FTSE 250 company who provider public services on a global scale with 50,000 employees worldwide. It's a very exciting time for the company's business intelligence and reporting function as we are looking to build and developer whole new team within the business from Manager through to analyst.

As part of the MI&A team, the BI Consultant will be responsible for delivering data solutions to enable effective reporting and insight by business teams. They will engage closely with leads in the business to understand and develop requirements, provide expert knowledge of the data structures and tools in order to deliver value-adding solutions. They will bring innovation and pragmatism to help develop new insights to grow and optimise the business.

Responsibilities

* Build strong relationships with business and functional stakeholders to understand business direction, processes, issues, decisions, and shape data requirements for reporting, analysis and insight.

* Translate business requirements into costed end-to-end data designs, including source system analysis, data capture, transformation, modelling, presentation queries and reports/dashboards and analysis models.

* Develop rapid prototype and proof of concepts to shape solution approaches, engaging closely with business stakeholders

* Evaluate and recommend the pragmatic and cost effective build approaches for data solutions, such as in-house development, delivery partner, specialist 3rd parties or otherwise based on scale, complexity and priority.

* Manage and oversee the delivery of data solutions through technical and delivery governance

* Deliver specific components or the complete data solution - source to report.

* Using a "continuous improvement mind-set": Identify, recommend and implement solution design optimisations and performance tuning improvements.

* Support the Service Lead to analyse and understand system and user behaviour to drive adoption and business value-add.

* Create high-quality documentation to describe the technical solution and business-facing documents to explain in clear language the data model, measures, dimensions, hierarchies, history and data quality characteristics.

* Promote a self-service capability by providing informal training and mentoring of business reporting analysts. This will include developing their technical skills using the BI tools and also their understanding of the data structures. Develops guides, training videos, provides briefings and webinars with the Power-User community.

* Contribute to the BI platform strategy and functional roadmaps to ensure the MI&A service remains technically appropriate to meet business requirements.

* Assist support teams in resolving technical issues with data solutions.

* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by constantly scanning/reviewing the market, attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.

Technical Skill

Broad BI solution and data management experience is essential together with proven expertise with either the SAP BI applications (Business Warehouse, HANA, BPC, Business Objects and SAP Analytics Cloud) or the Microsoft SQL and Power BI products - but ideally both. Experience with other BI visualisation and self-service tools is advantageous, including Qlik and Tableau.
