Product Owner - Payroll - Manchester - £550 - £700 - 9 Months

The work location is in Manchester and is a 9 months contract.

Pay rate is between £550 - £700 per day.

The role is working for a well established, multi-national retailer and specialises in clothing, home and luxury product.

Lead the contract delivery and product development roadmap for Payroll

Responsible for the delivery of an accurate, cost effective and legally compliant payroll solution for the UK and ROI business.

Manage the relationship and contract with the third-party supplier, and with M&S People Services and Technology to deliver the SaaS, (Software as a Service), contractual terms effectively.

Drive the roadmap of development change to a simplified payroll process, enabling cloud solution implementation.

Act as the voice of the customer, initiating and translating the product roadmap into a product backlog and manage, adjust for risk, and prioritise the backlog.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

* Accountable for the relationship management of third party provider.

* Responsible for leading the development and delivery of contractual content and terms.

* Accountable for monitoring payroll performance KPI's and responding as appropriate to underachievement in delivery

* Accountable for ensuring effective delivery of People Services process to ensure payroll accuracy.

* Responsible for working with M&S Technology to understand the progress of features and changes in product requirements and support the release planning and sprint planning exercises

* Accountable for the initiation and translation of the Payroll Product road map into a manageable and prioritised backlog designed to achieve migration to a cloud-based solution.

* Responsible for delivering Change through Agile methodology where beneficial and appropriate, and proactively educate colleagues within HR about agile methodologies and product management

* Responsible for the operationalisation of the payroll product into the organisation, ensuring end to end delivery for performance accuracy

* Responsible for driving an appropriate Change plan across the business to embed process changes to deliver improved performance KPI's

* Combine awareness of HR, the retail market and our colleagues to ensure payroll products continue to satisfy all three customer groups needs

* Keep abreast of new technical developments which could enhance payroll and/or colleague experience

Key skills and experience

* Extensive experience working with Payroll solutions in a SaaS capacity with a third party

* Experience in managing the Technology relationship and skills from a commercial business environment

* Experience of managing successful delivery in an Agile software environment and in delivering waterfall projects to deliver customer-led outcomes

* Excellent stakeholder and supplier management skills

* Strong track record of forward and innovative thinking

* Proven track record of driving service and delivery improvement

* Commercial management experience with analytical and financial literacy

* Excellent communication skills - skilled at conveying information to non-technical as well as technical business users. technical resources

* Excellent people engagement skills?
