The IT Services department at Northumbria University (based in Newcastle) has a role available working in a team providing operational responsibility for many of the main applications and systems.
You would be part of a team responsible for the effective and efficient operational management of varied portfolio of applications ranging from finance, intranet, accommodation, sport and security to teaching and learning technologies.
Although advantageous; candidates would not be expected to have specific knowledge of applications in use at Northumbria but should be proficient and have exposure to supporting applications on Microsoft Platforms such Microsoft Server, basic SQL knowledge, IIS and apache alongside some experience with Microsoft SharePoint, WordPress, content management and supplier supported applications hosted locally or in the cloud (hosted/SaaS).
Alongside day-to-day maintenance and end-user support candidates require experience in co-coordinating application upgrades working collaboratively with suppliers and other internal stakeholders. Candidates would also be expected to assist in technical reviews, supplier management, external audits and any other work-streams related to the role.
The IT Services department has an ongoing ambition to further mature its professional approach to IT, candidates should have knowledge of working with good practice ideally ITIL. Alongside technical ability the role requires strong process driven experience including the preparation of change requests, some system and requirements analysis, run-books, incident reports, risk and problem log maintenance.
