Jefferson Frank are currently working closely with a Biotech company, based in Cambridge, seeking a DevOps Engneer on a long term contract. This will involve working just 3 days per week only. Which 3 days you work are down to you. Therefore, this would possibly suit a contractor looking for a little more flexibility or time at home!

About the role

Working as part of a busy DevOps team, maintaining and improving all aspects of the development and production web environments including on premise, private cloud and cloud infrastructures.

Roles and responsibilities:

* Support the production and development environments

* Providing incident troubleshooting, problem solving and resolution

* Provide infrastructure expertise

* Plan and implement proactive project work

* Carry out infrastructure maintenance tasks

* Environment capacity planning

* Look to improve efficiency through automation

* Assist with managing web application deployments

Required:

Please take a a look at the following requirements, however, there will also be a niche focus on Puppet, so strong experience around this is a must.

You must also have good experience around most of the following

* Experience with AWS EC2 / RDS / Lambda

* Good technical understanding of Windows Servers

* Experienced in running a web infrastructure (IIS / Apache / nginx)

* Linux OS server experience

* Experienced in one or more of high level programming languages, such as Bash/ Powershell/ Coldfusion/ .Net

* Experience with virtualisation (VMware / OpenStack / KVM)

* Configuration management - ideally Puppet - Chef also useful

* Experience with - Vagrant, Packer

* Demonstrate a clear understanding of networks and their underlying protocols.

* Experienced in working with development pipelines and deployment tools (Team City / Jenkins)

* Ability to clearly communicate complicated technical problems.

* Ability to effectively communicate and present findings and recommendations.

* Ability to be resourceful when investigating problems
