I am recruiting for a firmware tester to join a client of ours based in Edinburgh. You will be testing the firmware and writing and carrying out test plans to assist in the development of new features. They have existing manual tests but are looking to move over to automation, using Python.

Skills and experience

* Writing and carry out test plans

* Substantial automation and manual testing

* Experience working in agile environments

* Experience using tools - UFT (QTP) and GPIB (HP-IB-, IEEE 488)

* Exposure to working with signal generators

* API testing experience

* Hardware exposure - sensors

* Exposure to system wide testing

* API testing

As an firmware tester you will be working as part of a scrum team, each scrum team has 6 people of which 2 are testers, 3 are developers and there's also someone from the operations side of the business in each scrum team. You will also be paired with another tester to work alongside throughout the contract.

The role has come about to overlap with somebody leaving on medical leave, as such you will have a handover period with the person you are taking over to guide you through the process.

Interviews are happening next week for a start date in April. They can wait for the right person so this could be a great option for anybody in a permanent position wanting to go contracting.
