Data Services Engineer/ London/ 6 month contract/ £200 per day

Spring Technology are currently recruiting on behalf of a Client who are seeking a Data Services Engineer

The responsibilities of the Data Services Engineer entail

*Respond to calls logged via IT Service Desk, or in person, administering solutions to known problems and diagnosing and documenting undefined problems as they occur.

*Diagnose and document calls logged to the Local Support team through the appropriate call tracking system.

*Provide Hardware and software maintenance and support to the existing Clients server estate, including server firmware updates, server patching and software updates.

*Diagnose and trouble shoot any hardware or software issues detected on the existing server

estate and take steps to implement solutions.

*Work on server projects to implement new services and changes as required.

*Provide technical input to internal projects which have a server element advising on hardware and software requirements and must also be able to implement these requirements.

*Provide support for backup systems ensuring backups are run, performing upgrades when needed and making configuration changes as and when required.

*Provide second and third line technical support for a number of OS and software applications including Windows operating systems for servers, Microsoft SQL Server, VMware, IIS as well as the administration of UKI organisational units within Active Directory.

*Provide support for the existing VMWare ESX and ESXi environment highlighting and implementing maintenance that the environment needs ensuring that the environment is functioning correctly.

Essential Skillset

* Microsoft Operating Services and Server Applications; Databases, EMC Backup Software, Web Servers, VMware;

* Microsoft Active Directory;

* Laptop, PC, printer and server hardware fundamentals;

* HP & Konica Printing solutions;

* Blade Enclosures and Blade Technology;

* Remote management software such as HP ILOs, HP KVMs and Dell DRAC.

* Knowledge of server storage solutions
