Role Description and Required Capabilities:

The role is a new and exciting opportunity to operate as a leader who champions the availability of service within a Component or Feature team. You will represent Service Delivery to Lab Engineering Leads, Product Owners, Stakeholders, and Teams to enforce Service principles, disciplines, standards and processes. You will do this by developing Operational Run capability through coaching others on how to build serviceability into the design and architecture of new solutions, while minimising risk. You will provide insights into the performance of existing software solutions, ensuring that Labs appropriately prioritise solutions to existing issues. The role also requires proven technical abilities, combined with effective problem solving skills in a fast changing and varied technology environment.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven experience of collaborative and agile working, be a quick learner with the attitude to absorb and adapt to the new technologies being used with Lloyds and the wider industry while bringing those around you on the journey.

You will be able to demonstrate awareness of the technical environment, that you can identify impediments to progress and can work to resolve them. You will understand how to use Systems Thinking and Service Design to avoid solutions that lead to further technical debt. You will understand agile development, the ceremonial roles, DevOps tools (continuous integration, testing and delivery) and how their relationship underpins any agile delivery method. You will be able to solve complex problems, while considering the balance between impact, risk and mitigation. You will be an effective builder of working relationships with stakeholders at various levels. You will have a passion for coaching other engineers and a strong team culture. You will be comfortable challenging stakeholders - saying "No" and explaining why in terms they understand. You will be able to perform trend analytics to analyse incident data, explore patterns, and propose appropriate remedies. You will own the Problem portfolio for your team. Confidence in expressing technical opinions combined with pragmatism is required.

You will have an understanding and working knowledge of ITIL principles and practices. You will show the ability to obtain buy in from key stakeholders through the use of influence. You will provide Operational excellence having experience in an IT support role, understanding Production environments, complexities of system architecture and be able to advise on operational excellence. You will strive to complete the allocated stories and tasks the team commit to deliver within the Service Level agreements and help drive the progress towards Key Performance Indicator success.

You will take responsibility for creating a proactive risk management culture, identifying and escalating threats, embedding controls, and where possible, helping to implement remediating actions.

An understanding of the Financial Services industry in general, and payments in particular, would be a distinct advantage for a successful candidate.

This role has line management responsibility and the successful candidate in expected to have a successful track record of leading people.

Essential technical skills: Unix, DB2

Desirable technical skills: IBM Integration Bus/WebSphere Message Broker, Java, MQ and DevOps tooling
