The good news is that I am going to attempt to keep this advert short and (hopefully) sweet.
Lets see how that plan goes!
I am partnering up with one of our long-term clients to aid with the recruitment of Senior Java Developers to be based out of their office in Belfast. They are a market leading Tech House, operating in a hugely competitive space and with an excellent reputation for utilising new technologies. They are completely and fundamentally driven by technology, using it as an enabler rather than a blocker.
The roles are heavily focused around core Java EE development, utilising a diverse selection of tools/echnologies including Java, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, Docker, Jenkins, Git and React. You will be expected to work across the full Software Development Lifecycle and will be involved in a number of methodologies/processes including Agile/Scrum, TDD, BDD and DevOps.
So in essence... its pretty hybrid!
In terms of specific requirements, they are ideally looking for a number of skills. But rather than just regurgitating the JD, I wanted to highlight a few of them below:
Software Engineering - The core focus of these roles will involve working with back end Java frameworks and technologies including J2EE, Spring, Hibernate etc. They have a quality first approach to software engineering and a firm understanding of object oriented programming and industry-standard design patterns is therefore crucial, as is any wider programming experience with any languages other than Java (e.g. Scala, Python, C++, C#).
Web Technologies - A wide range of web-based skills is also crucial to be considered for these positions and any experience building client-side/UI applications is important due to the 'full stack' nature of these roles. A diverse technical background focusing on both JavaScript technologies (e.g. React, Angular, Redux) and industry standard web technologies (e.g. HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, AJAX etc.) is therefore a given.
Agile Methodologies - Whilst they arent a 'pure Agile' tech house (I mean... who is?), Agile does play an important part in their engineering process and they endeavour to utilise methodologies/processes including Scrum, Kanban, XP, DevOps and Continuous Integration. A wider understanding of multiple methodologies is therefore important when considering submitting an application for these roles.
In return, you will benefit from a competitive base salary (between £50,000 - £60,000) as well as a varied benefits package.
