Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: London

Pay: £800pd

Clearance: DV Clearance (Valid)

A SME AWS Consultancy are seeking a DevOps specialists to engage with their public sector customer to deliver game-changing solutions to critical national applications and infrastructure.

The successful candidate will work within close-knit full stack cross-functional delivery teams - you will design, build, deploy and operate highly distributed microservice based systems from development through to production. Operating in agile environments with a DevOps culture, you will actively seek to take on responsibilities and facilitate the team to achieve its goals.

Responsibilities Include;

* Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services, from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement.

* Support development teams with build & deployment best practices e.g. branching strategy, testing methodology, CI/CD and pipelines.

* Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms, frameworks, deployment and release pipelines, capacity planning and launch reviews.

* Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, errors, saturation, traffic and overall system health.

* Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and release velocity.

* Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems.

* Help defining processes and standards, following Open Source best practices and keeping abreast of industry trends.

* Help in shaping our working culture.

Preferred Qualifications

* BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding or equivalent practical experience.

* Experience in one or more of the following scripting languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl or Ruby.

* Interest in designing, analysing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
