About CQC

CQC is the regulator of Health and Adult Social Care services. The Intelligence unit is an important part of this.  We provide evidence for CQC's regulatory decisions and publications through the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data.

We are developing plans to use advanced analytics and data science approaches to provide insight into quality and predict the risk of poor care. This will help us better understand the quality of care received by people who use the services we regulate.

We now have an opportunity available for an Automation Lead in the Intelligence unit. We are looking for an individual who can help us bring novel intelligence products to our front line staff.

This is an exciting time to join our team and we look forward to receiving your application!

About the Team

The National Analysis team develops novel products under CQCs data science programme, and to understand risk in local areas (e.g. local authorities). We also work on developing our data science and GIS capability.

The role

You will work with analysts, data scientists and product managers on discovery, to prototype develop and support live products or work with our digital directorate to translate prototypes into live products depending on the scale of the project.

You will also lead for National Analytics to: develop our process for developing data science and area products and move them from discovery and prototype to live products; ensure our quality assurance policy for automated products is properly implemented and contribute to development of this policy; provide advice on tools and techniques; as well as train, support and mentor colleagues in the techniques and process of automating products.

We are at the beginning of this work, and this is a good opportunity to be a technical leader and strongly shape our products, process, and capability in this area.

About You

You will be able to demonstrate strong technical skills in all or most of our existing set of tools (OBIEE, BI Publisher, SQL, SQL Server, ESRI ArcMap products), emerging tools (R and Rstudio, Python) and be able to rapidly gain expertise in new tools we might acquire.

You will have experience of technical leadership to create prototypes of automated products; as well as the process of managing such products through discovery, prototype and to operational use. You will have been recognized as a mentor in this area.

You will have the ability to lead and work as part of broad project teams drawn from disparate parts of the organization, including analysts, data scientists, architects and engineers, product managers and end users.

You will have the experience to be able to express meaningful opinions on policy and process around the operationalization of new products and help CQC develop its capability in this area.

Closing date: 9th April 2019 at 11.45pm
