About the role 

For the right person, we are open to you currently being a manual tester with strong capabilities, as we can provide a structured development programme to develop test automation skills. Upon completion we can re-evaluation your overall package.

We use devops, cloud technologies, big data and agile practices to deliver the new technology platforms to underpin our changing organisation.  You will work across programs providing technical expertise in Test Automation for multiple scrum teams, this could range from helping a team solve a challenging automation issue to researching and implementing new automation tools for the business. 

In this role you will design, build, test and deploy effective test automation solutions, working primary within a scrum team, you will also :

Raise risks arising from the automation test results

Identify new and implement existing test frameworks to improve confidence in testing

Mentor and advise other team members in testing practices

We ultimately require a leading test automation practitioner to drive the highest quality delivery environments for our organisation.

You will be required to undergo DV clearance after appointment or be currently DV cleared.

 We require evidence of ability to write well-structured code, creating robust and reusable tests.

You will design, build, test and deploy effective test automation solutions, working primarily within a scrum team. Or as someone with predominately manual skills we will train you for an automation lead environment.

We need you to have some working knowledge of C# and/or Java.

As well as working on test automation an element of manual/exploratory testing will also be involved in the role where automation is not applicable.

The role holder will work primary within the Visual studio domain for C# writing both the initial Behaviour driven development tests (For automated/manual tests) and then the automated test code itself. You will be challenged to: -

Provide fast, reliable feedback to the development teams using automated tests.

Ensure that the right level of automation is applied to each project

Ongoing maintenance of automated tests is part of the overall process.

Design and builds test cases with expected results.

Conducts a range of different software testing types (Including Unit, Integration, Automation, Regression and Exploratory testing; interpreting and executing sets of moderately complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards.

Operates the organisation's software testing tools effectively and follows procedures and techniques correctly

You will have defined Product Backlog Items, User Stories and or requirements translating these into tests (Both Automated and Manual) that will ensure that the software meets the original acceptance criteria.

Behaviours & Competencies used for Sifting

Able to demonstrate proficient experience of delivering professional software testing services within an Agile Framework. (This would include experience of a wide range of testing techniques such as behaviour driven development, risk based, test analysis, design and execution.

Awareness of a programming or scripting language (either commercially or in a study/hobby) with the ambition to become an automated tester.

Practical experience of using SQL to manipulate data in a rational database

Experience of use of cucumber/spec flow or some Gherkin type language in writing tests.
