Job purpose

To provide pre-sales technical leadership in the area of collaboration infrastructure, alliance partners and our ‘eco' system. E.g. Zoom.

Scope

This role will provide specialist knowledge and support of products and solutions at an EMEA level. Frequent multi-country support of sales activities with travel will be required. The SA will plan their own ongoing development particularly in their area of specialization to keep their knowledge current.

Note: Knowledge of the Microsoft SfB and Teams environments will be required due to overlap/application of our products and solutions into the Microsoft environment.  

  Main duties

Provide technical leadership in ‘direct touch' sales situations working with SE's and Account managers including presentations, design support and PoC (Proof of Concept).

Provide ‘thought' leadership & vision relating to their expertise e.g. develop sample architectures for Polycom solution implementations, SE development and other initiatives

Stay current in their area of expertise

Provide support to Polycom partners for their qualified major or complex sales opportunities

Implement programs to develop partners; ongoing updates (new products & releases), formal training & education e.g. certification

Undertake product or infrastructure initiatives to further the interests of the company and the Sales Engineering community (internal & external).

May be required to provide occasional event support for seminars and trade shows.

Develop close links with relevant Product Managers and development staff within the Business Unit(s)

Provide feedback from customers/field

Be an expert source of relevant ‘roadmap' information

Liaise with other departments e.g. Service, marketing, to maximize Poly's effectiveness with it's opportunities. Close work with the Demonstration is required to ensure Poly's demos show our solutions at their best and most current.

  Education & qualifications required

Certification in relevant area of expertise e.g. Cisco CCXX or Microsoft MSXX ideally

Sales training - structured approach to account and opportunity management e.g. Miller-Heimann, Siebel

  Competency Profile

Extensive experience in a mixture of networking and collaboration applications.

Experience of selling to enterprise customers at a high level - CXX and Director/VP

Expertise -Network knowledge (routing etc), Quality of Service protocols particularly for real time applications. DNS & other utilities, Gateways

Expertise - Collaboration & utilities plus call control applications; directory services (e.g. active directory, LDAP), collaboration management , gatekeepers/registrars, VoIP knowledge beneficial

Expertise - Microsoft background with network applications SfB, Teams and Lync

Experienced in the "consultative" approach to selling - "trusted advisor".

Excellent communication skills - can confidently communicate at senior levels of a customer's organisation

Language skills - English plus major European language depending on location/mother tongue.

Structured project management skills

Commercial awareness of sales processes and common business practices.

Excellent customer focus and adaptability.

Typical activities - The SA will provide ‘expert' support to the ‘local' or account sales team in the form of knowledge transfer, direct support at customer meetings, demonstrations and design/architecture development. The SA will provide internal education (mainly to SE's) informally or opportunity specific as well as more formal sessions. The SA will also provide support to Plantronics (Polycom) partners both for major or complex application sales opportunities and ongoing partner development (training and knowledge support).
